Pandan leaves gathered from the resort’s garden, seaweed from nearby beaches and local wild honey are just some of the locally sources ingredients being developed by therapists in The Spa By Paresa at Paresa Resort Phuket. Translated as ‘Heaven of all Heavens’ in Sanskrit, Paresa Resort Phuket comprises 48 elegantly appointed pool villas and magnificent suites hidden way by a canopy of banyan trees. Each guest room has its own private infinity plunge pool, indoor/outdoor showers and uninterrupted 270-degree views of the Andaman Sea from the cliffs of ‘millionaires’ mile’. Central to the Paresa’s ethos is to offer an experience that is in harmony with nature. In keeping with this philosophy, the Spa By Paresa uses the natural, healing properties of local ingredients and products from the resort's own garden, combined with ancient Thai healing therapies, to create exclusive treatments that promote a feeling of well-being and sense of nourishment and rejuvenation.
In a unique take on Pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) that grow around the resort and are traditionally used to provide aromatic flavouring to Asian rice dishes, the therapists have been inspired to use extracts of this versatile Thai ingredient in a soothing new 60-minute ‘Pandan Leave Foot therapy’ (£75) treatment. The therapists start by soaking the feet in a paste made from the Pandan leaf mixed with warm water and xx ???, a soothing massage using the resort’s unique foot massage technique relieves tension in the legs and feet and finally a skin tingling scrub made from a blend of brown sugar, olive oil and camphor is applied to leave the skin smoothed, softened and glowing. Drawing on the health giving properties of seaweed, dubbed the new ‘superfood for the skin’, with a growing reputation for its anti-inflammatory, detoxifying and moisturising properties the spa’s new 60 minute ‘Magic of Andaman Seaweed Body Wrap’ (£72) uses fresh seaweed gathered from the rocks below the resort by its spa therapists, who then transform it into a luxurious body treatment by mixing it with hot water, essential oils and clay to form a paste that soaks into the skin, leaving it silky smooth. The fusion of organic chocolate with the natural properties of wild honey have been superbly combined in a new 45-minute ‘Chocolate Honey Facial’ (£63) as the ultimate customised treatment for the face. Raising energy levels and helping to relieve tension it uses warm dark organic chocolate and locally produced wild honey to create a soothing paste which is applied to the face and combined with subtle relaxation techniques to rejuvenate the face and bring the body, mind and spirit back into balance. The Spa by Paresa offers a luxurious sanctuary within Paresa. It has five treatment rooms where international and Thai therapies are complemented by yoga, reiki and meditation sessions. The Spa by Paresa uses Siam Botanicals 100% natural massage oils, plus pure coconut oil, rice bran oil and sesame oil for their healing properties. Body Scrub and Body Wraps use Panpuri products, a natural product range made in Thailand, and for Facials the spa uses Pevonia organic skincare from the USA. Nail colours are by OPI. Prices at Paresa Resort Phuket start from £240 per night in an Ocean Pool Suite including a sparkling wine breakfast. The resort is featured by a range of tour operators in the UK.
