I have just celebrated 30 years in the travel industry. Gosh, how did that happen....
My journey began back in May 1990 working with The Magic Travel Group in Hammersmith. Italia '90 was kicking off and I was selling flights to Italy. I went on to run the small shop we had on site . It was there that I got my first taste for PR and built up an in-depth knowledge of in-house PR and the travel industry over the next eight years.
I spent a further two years at The Press Office promoting the Michelin starred Italian hotel, L’Abereta, alongside the luxury spa resort of Pangkor Laut Resort and worked on the opening of its sister property, Tanjong Jara, in Malaysia.
At the turn of the millennium I expanded my client portfolio experience further with the travel specialists agency, Synergy. There my clients included Kuoni, Taj Hotels and the Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks in Florida. During this time I also helped to launch the luxury hotel, Whatley Manor.
I founded IDeal PR in 2006 . Since then I have launched a number of hotels including the UK launch of the family friendly Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel in Portugal in 2010 helped relaunch Luxury Family Hotels in the UK in 2012.
I also launched Hotel L’Avenida, a boutique 12-bedroom hotel in Mallorca, and continue to promote this alongside its sister hotel, Son Penya Petit Hotel & Spa. A third sibling property, Nou Baleares, is due to open in Palma in 2020.
Current tour operator clients include walking experts, Ramblers Walking Holidays, its sister brand Adagio and Ramblers Walking Holidays Cruise & Walk. I represent North America specialist operator, Bon Voyage, and the Mediterranean villa and boutique hotel operator, Simpson Travel.
Over the last 13 years I have worked with VisitDenmark and have expanded my cruise and exploration expertise with the boutique operator, Aranui Cruises in French Polynesia and adventure sailing experts, Rubicon 3.
When I'm not at my desk I can be found drawing and painting with an art group I helped to set up; singing with the Games Maker Choir, that I joined having volunteered at the London 2012 Olympics, or training for a 10k or Half Marathon with my local running club. Most recently in lockdown I’ve learnt to knit and I'm taking my first orders of a range of beanies.
Please do get in touch if I can be of help with any of the above.
